Islanders tie Buffalo late in regulation but fall in shootout

Despite a 3-2 shootout loss to the Sabres, Islanders head coach Patrick Roy felt his team gave themselves a chance to win. Forward Emil Heineman, who has been a revelation for the Isles this season, tied the game with less than 30 seconds to go in the third period. It was yet another big goal for Heineman, who prides himself on playing a 200-foot game. Roy says the forward's contribution has been an important part of the team's success.
