Description

At age 25, Mary-Sophie Harvey won her first individual LCM Worlds medal last summer, earning bronze in the 200 IM. However, you'd never guess that would have been the outcome after the season she went through. After the pool she usually trains in was closed for the year, Harvey had to piece together facilities to train at, driving multiple hours daily to make practices and ultimately training in 4 different pools and 2 different weightrooms on a weekly basis. The Canadian Olympian is used to difficulty in training, however. Harvey has put an emphasis on racing in many events, typically ones considered the hardest in swimming. She will routinely compete in the 400 IM, 200s of stroke, and the 400/800 free, even when her primary events are considered the 200 free and 200 IM. For example, the extremely versatile athlete is making a return this season to the 200 fly in competition. Though she hasn't really competed in it since 2019, she does have a history in it: she won a silver medal in the 200 fly at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
