The No. 14 North Carolina Tar Heels and the Stanford Cardinal played a classic game in Maples Pavilion, with the Cardinal coming away with the 95-90 win. Carolina led for most of the game, but with just over 1 minute remaining and trailing by 2, Jeremy Dent-Smith drained a three-pointer to give the Card the lead. After a Carolina turnover, Ryan Agarwal stepped up and nailed his 5th three-pointer of the game to give Stanford a 4-point cushion, and they were able to salt the game away from there. The 36 points marked the most points scored by a Stanford freshman. He also added 9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in the win. Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson each scored 26 points, with Veesaar shooting an amazing 9-12 from the floor, including 2-2 from three-point range.
