Tummy Time In The Bath 💦👶
Bath time is baby’s very first swimming lesson — and a relaxed routine makes all the difference. When bath time is calm, warm, and unhurried, you help maintain baby’s natural affinity with the water while building trust and confidence.
A relaxed bathtime routine:
✨ Strengthens bonding through skin-to-skin contact and eye contact
✨ Helps regulate baby’s nervous system and supports better sleep
✨ Builds body awareness and early sensory development
✨ Encourages natural floating skills and balance
✨ Reduces startle reflex by moving slowly and predictably
✨ Creates positive water associations that carry into swimming lessons
Gently support your baby on their back so they can enjoy the floating skill, then carefully roll them over to experience tummy time in the water. Move slowly and confidently. Keep baby’s mouth and nose clear of the water at all times.
Bathing together in a larger bath can also make handling easier and help parents feel more confident — and confident parents create confident babies.
Always supervise with a responsible adult within arm’s reach. Warm (not hot) water, calm voices, and consistent routines lay the foundation for a lifetime love of swimming.
