The highs and the lows of this year have taught me way more than any PB ever has. 10 weeks without running. And today I finally try again. After a fall, a misdiagnosis, weeks of confusion, and a rehab process that broke me down more than I expected, this is my first run back outside. In this video, I talk through what actually happened to my knee, how training for Chicago stopped overnight, and how quickly “2–4 weeks” turned into months of doubt, fear, and starting over. Working to build back from an injury IS a privilege, even if it doesn't feel that way sometimes It's so so easy to compare to where you once were, or where you want to be when you're injured. The exercises can feel repetitive, boring and pointless sometimes, but starting the rehab and that comeback IS progression, and some injuries don't come with the guarantee of a return. Every exercise, every rep, every session is you GETTING to work on yourself to comeback to your sport stronger. The sooner we flip our attitude and see the opportunity that's in-front of us, the easier and the more enjoyable the comeback becomes

Here's exactly what I'm doing right now in week 11 of rehabbing this knee injury This is just a snapshot of where I've worked up to so far, focusing on: rebuilding quad strength, improving calf and hamstring capacity, and lots of hip/glute stability work to support knee tracking. Running drills are my starter to gradually reintroduce impact so I'm not super sore when we take those first few running steps, and there's plenty of core and other accessory work on my inbetween days to when I'm still working away in the gym.
